March is Youth Art Month!

We had our opening reception for the Oconee County Youth Art Month exhibit yesterday. Each school in our county submits 12 pieces of art for the show. I have shared some of these projects here on my blog and some are new. The kids were excited to see their work hanging in a real art gallery...and there were cookies to eat. They probably loved that the most!

  1. Can you please share how you created the piece of artwork in the 6th photo(3D wall art). I love it! I've been trying to create projects that are 3D or more mixed media!

    1. Hello Mrs.C! Thanks for your interest! It was a Frank Stella inspired project and I posted on my blog about it so check my archives. The 5th graders basically picked an activity to depict in an abstract way. They had to sort of "deconstruct" things and simplify them to the basic shapes. We used a very heavy weight cardboard like paper and put them together with chopped up cardboard pieces to give their projects the relief look. I hope that helps!
